DURATION OF THE PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Program is a four (4) year program consisting of 12 trimesters of 4 months duration, 3 trimesters in a year and 14 weeks per trimester.
CREDIT REQUIREMENTS
This is a 126 credit program including 41 (forty-one) courses and internships program. Each course contains 3 Credit. The length of each course is 14 weeks, of which 12 weeks for classes (3 hours per week) and 2 weeks for examination. Number of classes in a week is 2 consisting of 1.5 hours per class.

A student pursuing a BBA degree may be required to take 03 (three) non-credit courses such as Fundamentals of Mathematics, Fundamentals of English and one foreign language other than Bangla and English. Whether a student has to take the first two courses depends upon his/her previous academic records and score on admission test conducted by the university.
A student pursuing a BBA degree can do concentration in any of the following 9 (nine) areas:

The B.Sc. Program in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) is designed to produce skilled graduates in the field to satisfy the growing demands of computer engineering graduates in the home and abroad. C. Faculty Of Engineering
Duration of the Program: The program having 8 semesters normally extends over four academic years.
Total Credit Requirement: To obtain B. Sc. in Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), students will have to complete 141 credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. If any student fails in any course, he/she will get the opportunity to improve the grade by retaking the same in the subsequent semesters. Students willing to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Information and Communication Engineering will have to follow the general guidelines of degree requirements of the university.
Grade Point Average (GPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA):
A Grade Point Average (GPA) shall be calculated for each semester as follows:
where, n is the number of courses offered during the semester, Ci, is the number of credits
allotted to a particular course and Gi is the grade point earned for that course.
The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) gives the cumulative performance of the students from the 1st year up to the end of the year to which it refers, and will be calculated as follows:
where, m is the total number of years being considered, Ck is the total number of credits registered during a year and Gk is the GPA of that particular semester.
A Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) shall be calculated at the end of semester and to be communicated to the students along with the Semester GPAs. The individual grades of courses obtained by them for the semesters of the academic years will, however, be communicated at the end of individual semester by the Chairman of the Examination Committee.
Course Withdrawal:
A student can withdraw a registered course by giving application to the registrar office through the batch advisor and Head of the department be for Mid-Term exam. In that case, student need not to pay any tuition fee.
Incomplete (I) Courses:
If any student unable to attend in the Final examination he or she will get a grade of incomplete (I). In this case the student can apply to seat in Final improvement exam within 3 consecutive semesters. Only the final exam marks will be added with CIE marks. After the 3 consecutive semester students need to retake the course again.
Retake:
A student can take a course again if he/she unable to seat for final improvement exam within 3 consecutive semester or the overall grade of the course is less that B.
Grade Improvement:
A candidate obtaining B.Sc. Engg. within 4 or 5 academic years shall be allowed to improve his/her result, of the courses less than ‘B’ grade of the theoretical and laboratory courses in the immediate next regular examination after publication of his/her result. In the case of improvement exam, only SEE marks will be updated. No improvement shall be allowed for Board Viva-voce. If a candidate fails to improve CGPA with the block of new GP in total, the previous results shall remain valid.
Course Dropout:
A student can drop a registered course by giving application with valid reason to the registrar office through the batch advisor and Head of the department be for Mid-Term exam. In that case, student need not to pay any tuition fee.
Academic Session:
The academic session for all undergraduate programs extends over a period of 4 (four) academic years. One academic year is divided into two semesters beginning from January. Each semester is of 15 weeks duration with 13 weeks for class teaching, a 1 week break for examination preparatory leave, and 1 week for conducting examinations.
Qualifying Requirements:
In order to get a degree, a student must gain a minimum overall CGPA of 2.50 on the scale of 4.00. A maximum of two C grades may be omitted for calculation of the GPA. Students may improve their grade points by repeating two courses. A student obtaining an F grade in a course will be allowed to repeat the course. But a student will not be allowed to do so, if he/she obtains a total of three or more F grades in one or more than one course(s) taken together, during the period of his/her studies. If at the end of the second or any subsequent semester, the cumulative GPA falls below 2.50, he/she will not be allowed to continue in the program. A student must complete all the requirements for the degree within six consecutive semesters from the date of first admission.
The duration of each program is three semesters and the fees are to be paid in nine installments i.e. at the time of admission and at the beginning of each semester, before the midterm (i.e. in middle) and before the final exam (i.e. at the end of each semester). Due to changes of course offers, the payment of each semester may vary slightly but the total payment will remain the same.
Total credit requirement and duration of the program
To obtain a B.Sc. in Textile Engineering (TE), students will have to complete 154 credit hours. If any student fails in any course, s/he will get the opportunity to improve the grade by retaking the same in the subsequent semester. The B.Sc. in Textile Engineering program is of 4 (four) years duration of 08 semesters.
Credit Requirements and Duration of Program (Day):
To obtain B. Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, students will have to complete 143 credits with a minimum CGPA of 2.50. If any student fails in any course, he/she will get the opportunity to improve the grade by retaking the same in the subsequent semesters. Duration of the program is four years (twelve trimesters), if a student enrolls as a full time student. Also, there is a provision for the students to enroll as a part time student. Students willing to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering will have to follow the general guidelines of degree requirements of the university.
The courses in the Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) degree program in the University is laid out in a manner to gradually prepare a professional in five years, who will be innovative and sensitive towards the context, technically sound, and who can fruitfully manage and develop architecture in Bangladesh.
Studio / Practical / Sessional Courses are even-numbered while theory courses are odd-numbered. Credits assigned for theory courses are shown before colon while credits for Studio / Practical / Sessional courses are shown after the colon for easy identification (Theory: Practical). Also, note that each credit of the theory course is equal to one contact hour and each credit of the practical course is equal to two contact hours. The first digit of the course number represents the academic year while the subsequent two digits are assigned to the courses. Alphabetical code at the beginning of course number represents the course offering discipline/department that is, ARCH for Architecture; CE for Civil Engineering; HUM for humanities; MGT for a management course, and so on.

D. Faculty Of Allied Health Science
The Department of Pharmacy has designed the courses for Bachelor of Pharmacy, B. Pharm (Hons.) for a 4 years program consisting of 8 semesters with 162 credits to provide with in-depth knowledge in pharmacy and related fields.
Academic Session for all undergraduate programs shall extend over a period of 4 (four) academic years. One academic year is divided into two semesters beginning from January. Each semester will be of 24 weeks duration with 22 weeks for class teaching; One week break for examination preparatory leave and three weeks for holding examinations.

E. Faculty Of Humanities And Social Science
The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in English is a four-year degree program conducted by the Department of English at Daffodil International University. The course contents cover the major British authors and their significant works along with major areas relating to language studies. Besides, classical European and American literature have been included in the syllabus. Further, courses from four other disciplines — Computer Science, History of Europe, Business Communication, and Western Philosophy have been integrated into the program.
The program is spread over 04 (four) academic years (levels) and 12 (twelve) semesters. It consists of 126 (one hundred and twenty six) credits and 40 (forty) courses in total. The courses are categorized as:
- General Education Courses (GEC), and
- Core Courses (CC).
The General Education Courses refer to the courses on disciplines other than English integrated into the program.
Each of the course comprises 03 (three) credits. And a special feature of this program is that students will have to use the language laboratory as and when the course teachers would advise them.

Duration Of The Programme

To obtain the Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) Degree in Journalism, Media and Communication, a student will have to complete 142 credit hours with a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Program Structure of MBA Program
This is a 60-credit MBA program and a regular student has to complete 60 credits to earn an MBA degree. However, a student may get waiver of some courses depending upon his/her results at Bachelor and/ Master levels and managerial/professional experience. The minimum credit requirements for an MBA degree is 39 credits. Only the students having adequate professional experience and outstanding academic records will be allowed to earn an Executive MBA degree. The total credit requirements for a particular student and the courses s/he needs to take will be evaluated and determined by the academic advisor(s) of the program or the Dean of the Faculty based on his/her results at Bachelor and/ Master levels and managerial experience. Admission Requirements
Students having a graduation degree from any discipline are allowed to apply for admission to MBA program. For admission to MBA program a student must satisfy the following requirements:
- Students having minimum 2.5 GPA or 2nd division both in SSC/Dakhil/Vocational and HSC/Alim/BA/Diploma In Commerce/Diploma in Business Studies and 3 or 4 years graduation from any discipline may apply for admission.
- Students completing five O-level subjects and at least two A-level subjects with 4 “B” grade and 3 “C” grade and 3 or 4 years graduation from any discipline may apply for admission.
- For MBA (Executive), an applicant must have minimum 3 years job experience in executive level after graduation.
Admission Process
Applicants selected for MBA will be notified for completing the admission process within a specific date. They will have to produce original certificates/testimonials and mark sheets/transcripts of all examinations passed at the time of admission. Evaluation of applicants for admission is based primarily on the student’s academic record in relevant undergraduate coursework. Applicants are expected to have sufficient knowledge in undergraduate-level mathematics and be familiar with common software packages. Provisional admission can be given to an applicant awaiting the result of her/his bachelor’s degree.
The Master of Science Degree in Software Engineering provides specialized knowledge and experience in developing and modifying large, complex software systems. It emphasizes technical and management aspects of the software engineering process.
Currently we are conducting M.Sc. in Software Engineering with three options.

Eligibility for Admission
The requirements for admission in M.Sc in Software Engineering degree program are:
- Completion of the bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an accredited institution of higher education in science, engineering or a related field
- The applicant must have a CGPA of 2.5 or above (in the scale of 4.0), or at least second class in the bachelor’s degree.
- The applicant must have completed the enlisted prerequisite courses or their equivalent.
- Applicants, not completing the enlisted prerequisite courses, will be admitted on condition that she/he completes these courses in one or two semesters.
Evaluation of applicants for admission is based primarily on the student’s academic record in relevant undergraduate coursework. Provisional admission can be given to an applicant awaiting the result of her/his bachelor’s degree. Students who have work experience in the software engineering field but do not have the required academic background may also qualify to apply for admission to the software engineering field.

Students from academic disciplines, other than SWE/CSE or equivalent will be required to complete a maximum of 60 credits. Duration of the course may vary from three to six semesters, depending on how many courses, a student has to undertake. In general, students who have completed the prerequisite courses prior to admission should be able to complete the required program in three semesters.
C. Faculty Of Engineering
- Admission and Residency Requirements
The requirements for admission to Master’s Degree program are as follows:
- The applicant must have a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or a 3-year Bachelor’s with 1-year Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering or, Computer Science and Engineering or, Physics or, Applied Physics from a university or an accredited institution of higher education. However, applicants who do not have adequate background for the program may have to take additional remedial undergraduate level courses as enlisted in the prerequisite courses of Group 3.
- The applicants having the minimum CGPA of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.0) or equivalent, or at least second class in the Bachelor’s degree are eligible for admission.
- The applicant must have completed the enlisted prerequisite courses or their equivalent. An applicant, not completing the enlisted prerequisite courses, will be admitted on condition that he/she completes these courses within two years.
- A maximum of 9 credits are transferable from other universities. The residency requirement is 21 credits including Master’s Thesis.
Evaluation of applicants for admission is based primarily on the student’s academic record in relevant undergraduate coursework. Applicants are expected to have sufficient knowledge in undergraduate-level mathematics and be familiar with common software packages.
2. Degree Requirements
The minimum degree requirements for Master’s program in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering for students with 4-year B.Sc. degree in ETE or equivalent subject are 36 credits. The program is either thesis based or project based. The degree names and requirements of the Master’s program are given below:
Thesis based Degree: Master of Science in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
- A minimum of 18 credits of graduate course work with a cumulative GPA of 2.65 or better.
- A Thesis of 18 credits.
Project based Degree: Master of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
- A minimum of 30 credits of graduate course work with an average GPA of 2.5 or better.
- A Project of 6 credits.
Thesis/Project defense will be conducted by a 4-member examination committee that consists of three permanent faculty members and one external member.
Students from academic discipline, other than ETE or equivalent subject, will be required to complete a maximum of 30 credit hours prerequisite courses in addition to these 36 credits. However, substantial real-life work experience in the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering field may be considered to waive some prerequisite courses.
3. Duration of the Program:
Duration of the program is three semesters (18-24 month), if a student enrolls as a full time student. But a student may also enroll as a part time student and take less number of courses. If a student needs to take pre-requisite courses prior to admission, he/she will need more than 3 semesters depending on the number of courses he/she needs to undertake. However, a student must complete his/her degree within five years from the date of his/her initial enrolment of the Master’s program.

3. Eligibility for Admission in M.Sc. Engg. & M. Engg. in TexE
- An applicant must have obtained a B.Sc. Engg. degree in Textile Engineering from any recognized institution.
- The applicant must have obtained at least 50% marks or a minimum of GPA of 2.5 in a scale of 4.0 in B.Sc.in Textile Engineering.
- The applicant must have obtained a minimum GPA of 3.5 in a scale of 5.0 or first division or equivalent in any of SSC and HSC or in equivalent examinations and must not have a GPA less than 2.5 in the scale of 5.0 or a 3rd division or equivalent in any of the above examinations.
For admission, applicants are primarily evaluated on their academic records in relevant coursework at undergraduate level. Before being finally selected for admission, a candidate may be required to appear at an oral/ and or written test. Every registered student shall get himself/ herself enrolled on payment of prescribed fees and other dues as per the University rules before the commencement of a semester. All course registration must be completed within two weeks from the start of the semester. Late registration after due date may only be accepted for thesis/ project for a fee of Tk.1000 upon a written appeal to the Registrar through the Head, Textile Engineering explaining the problems.

Duration of the Program:
The students will complete 36 credits hours over a period of 18 months. The course will be day long (part-time) and the courses will be offered in both thesis and general (non-thesis) group.
Eligibility for Admission:
- Completion of 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy course or 3-year Bachelor of Pharmacy and 1-year Master in Pharmacy from a recognized institute/university at home and abroad.
- The applicant must have the cGPA of at least 2.5 or above (in a scale of 4.0), or at least second class (55% or above).
- The applicant must have completed courses in Pharmacology, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Pharmaceutical Technology, Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics at undergradu ate level.
- The applicant has to sit for admission test and the university will select them on the basis of previous results and admission test results.

Depending on the student’s total number of year of academic career, MA in English program is divided into two categories. The categories are One Year MA in English Program and Two Years MA in English Program. The students who have previously obtained BA (Hons) in English from any recognized university are eligible to get admission to the One Year MA in English Program. The students with degrees other than BA (Hons) in English are eligible for admission to the Two Years MA in English Program.

Credit Transfer Under Student Exchange Program
DIU students wishing to achieve credits from international partner universities for one semester to one-year student exchange programs are advised to contact the Office of International Affairs to apply. Credit Transfer under the Student Exchange Program is available at the following link for foreign universities:

DIU students wishing to transfer their credits to a foreign university are advised to go through the website of that university very carefully and must understand all the procedures regarding admission, tuition and other fees, financial aid and insurance policies, and available part-time work facilities for students before enrollment.
Transfer From Other Universities
Students with good academic records from other recognized universities are eligible for transfer of their credits to DIU. Students wishing to transfer from another university must have transcripts of courses and grades, together with copies of certificate/ mark sheets of SSC or HSC or transcripts of O and A levels. These transcripts will be evaluated against the minimum entry requirement at DIU.
Exemption Of Courses
Students with extensive academic or professional experience may apply to waive courses by completing a ‘Request for Course Waiver’ form. This form should be submitted to the Coordinator of the Program/ Head of the Dept./ Dean of the Faculty with the relevant academic transcripts or evidence of an appropriate certification.
Students having completed any Bachelor’s degree course from another recognized university are eligible for waiver provided that they obtained at least a ‘B’ grade or over 50 percent marks in that specific course. Waivers are given on foundation courses only. A course waiver requires approval from the Equivalence Committee of DIU.
