American International University-Bangladesh commonly known by its acronym AIUB, is an accredited private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  The university was established in 1994 as AMA International University Bangladesh, a joint venture between AMA Computer University of the Philippines, and local sponsor Anwarul Abedin. Regular academic classes started in, 1995. AMA Computer University; later left the partnership, and in 2001 the university was renamed as American International University-Bangladesh.

 Since its inception, AIUB has been committed to provide, maintain, and enhance an educational environment that is conducive to learning, not only for those who come to learn but also for those who impart it. For over a decade, the institution offers an enriching undergraduate and graduate experience, with the right combination of all the essential components required for attaining excellence in learning.

B. FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The BBA program offers major/minor concentrations in the following areas.

A student can choose a single major or a double major or a single major with a minor concentration. In choosing a single major, a student has to complete the general education foundation courses and elective courses of the specified major.

In choosing a double major, a student has to complete the general education foundation courses and elective courses of both the specified majors. For the second major, the student has to take 6 courses of that concentration.

In choosing a major and a minor, a student has to complete the general education foundation courses, elective courses of the specified major and elective courses of the specified minor. And for doing a minor, a student has to take 4 courses of that concentration.

TOTAL CREDITS: 126 Credit Hours

  • A total of 126 Credit Hours are required to complete the Undergraduate Program (BBA)
  • Students can declare major after completion of minimum 60 Credit Hours (20 Courses)
  • To take a Major, each student has to complete 24 Credit Hours (8 Courses) from the specific Electives/Major Courses
  • To take a Second Major, each student has to complete another 18 Credit Hours (6 Courses) from the specific Electives/Major courses
  • To take the Minor, each student has to complete another 12 Credit Hours (4 courses) from the specific Electives/Major Courses
  • Before declaring a major, a student has to complete all the required pre-requisites
  • Non-credit Courses (Remedial English and Remedial Mathematics) are not included in the Total Credit Hours
  • Students have to complete the Internship Program of 3 Credit Hours in the last semester

A. FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Curriculum Requirements

Credit hours required for the degree range from a minimum of 45 credit hours to a maximum of 60 credit hours. The program is divided into two levels. A summary of these levels and credit hours required in each level is shown below:

Completion of minimum 15 courses (45 credit hours). Students, who will take thesis, need to cover minimum 39 credits (13 courses). The thesis will be equivalent of 6 credits.

Duration of the Program

This is a one-year intensive program consisting of 3 semesters considering the waiver and non-waiver status.

  • Required credit hours (to earn degree): 51 credits
  • Duration of the study: 16 months (4 semesters)
  • Breakdown of the study period: 48 credits (3 semesters) and “Capstone Research Project” (1 semester)

D. FACULTY OF SCIENCE and TECHNOLOGY

  • Two Core Courses (2 x 3 = 6 credits).
  • Any 5 courses (5 x 3 = 15 credits) and a thesis (6 credits) from his/her area of specialization.
  • Any 3 courses (3 x 3 = 9 credits) from any of the areas of specialization.

Each student must choose an AREA OF SPECIALIZATION from the following five groups.

Upon the completion of 18 credits, a student is eligible to register for thesis. Thesis is distributed over two consecutive semesters each having 3 credit hours.

*** Admission & Registration (Online): After the results are published, selected candidates can complete ONLINE admission and registration process immediately. Based on the Successful completion of admission and registration, freshman students will receive their AIUB student ID and AIUB official student email address on the Microsoft Office 365 Education platform. With this email address, AIUB students are entitled to all official applications of Microsoft Office 365 Education platform including MS Teams (the official online teaching-learning platform of AIUB).

*** Due to current pandemic, selected candidates are encouraged to complete their admission process through the online portal (https://admission.aiub.edu/ ). But, if it is more convenient for the candidates to complete the admission process on campus, they must follow the safety & security protocols and wear mask at all times while on the premises. The academic credentials of the candidate must conform to the requirements of the respective programs of the university (as stated below). Any discrepancy will be considered as a major disciplinary violation and may lead to cancellation of admission. AIUB Adminssion Fee Waiver

In view of the continued COVID-19 Pandemic, following Tuition Fees Waiver is offered:

     * 5% Waiver on Tuition Fees and Laboratory Fees for Spring 21-22 Semester ONLY.
     * Those who already enjoy any form of TF waiver, the highest will be applicable.
     * Regular Tuition Fees will be applicable from Summer 21-22 Semester onwards.

Also, we are offering Three Installment Payment Option for Total due of Spring 2021-22.

AIUB Admission Requirements

A. Undergraduate Programs


A. For EEE/ IPE/ Architecture/ B.Science (CSE):

1. A total GPA of 5.00 with a minimum GPA of 2.50 in Science background.  Math must be included at HSC level
2. Minimum GPA 2.5 in O Levels with no grade lower than ‘D’ among best 5 subjects and Minimum GPA 2.0 in A’ level. Math must be included at A’ level (in 2 Subjects) with grade not lower than D. (Scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1)
3. High School Diploma/International Baccalaureate with minimum grade B in Math.
4. GED result will not be accepted.

B. For Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA):

1. A total GPA of 5.00 with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
2. Minimum GPA 2.5 in O Levels with no grade lower than ‘D’ among best 5 subjects and Minimum GPA 2.0 in A’ level in 2 Subjects. (Scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1).1.
3. High School Diploma/International Baccalaureate with minimum grade B.
4. GED result will not be accepted.

C. For Arts & Social Science (BA in English or MMC/ BSS in Economics/ LLB ):

1. A total GPA of 5.00 with a minimum GPA of 2.50 for Arts and Social Science;
2. A total GPA of 5.00 with a minimum GPA of 2. 50 for LL.B.
3. Minimum GPA 2.5 in O Levels with no grade lower than ‘D’ among best 5 subjects and Minimum GPA 2.0 in A’ level in 2 Subjects. (Scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1).
4. High School Diploma/International Baccalaureate with minimum grade C.

Required Documents for Form Submission:

1. Attested Photocopy of all Board Mark Sheets and Testimonials / Certificates.
2. Three copies of Recent Colored & Clear Passport Sized Photographs.
3. For O’Level &A’Level Students, Attested Photocopy of Certificates/Hard copies (with cash in code).
4. A’ level candidates who will appear on November 2019 are required to submit photocopy of Statement of Entry and original hard copy/Mark sheets of their A’s level Exam(with cash in code).
5. Applicants in Freedom Fighter category  are requested  to submit attested photocopy  of  (i) “Provisional Certificate” from Ministry of Liberation war affairs. (ii) Mukti Barta/Indian List/PM signed Certificate      (iii) Gazette  (iv) “National ID” of the freedom fighter & Birth Certificate / Death Certificate of the Freedom Fighter. (vi) Attested Internet Information of FF.
***Selected applicants in FF quota are requested to bring all these original papers during their admission.

Written Exam Waiver Conditions (will be called for viva interview):
1. Minimum score of 1650 in SAT for undergraduate program out of 2400
2. Minimum score of 1106 in SAT for undergraduate program out of 1600

B. Graduate Programs


A. Requirements For Regular MBA /MDS/ MsCS / M.TEL/ MEEE:

1. Minimum 3 Years of Bachelor Degree completion is required.
2. Minimum 2nd division in SSC, HSC & Graduation from any of the disciplines or minimum GPA 2.5 in HSC & SSC (in the scale of 5) and minimum CGPA 2.5 in Bachelor Degree (in the scale of 4).
3. For A Level & O Level Background, Minimum GPA 2.5 (in both O & A Levels separately) with no grade lower than‘D’among best 5 subjects in O’level and best 2 subjects in A’ level.(Scale:A=5,B=4,C=3,D=2 &E=1)

Additional Requirements for MsCS:
4 Years Graduation degrees is required in CS, CSE, CIS,SE, CSSE, EEE, COE, ECE, MIS, Electronics, Mathematics, Physics, or in any other science or Technical disciplines (To be decided by Prog. Director)

Additional Requirements for MTEL/ MEEE:
4 Years Graduation degrees is required in EEE, COE, ECE, ETE, CS, CSE, CIS, SE, CSSE, App. Physics & Electronics, ICT, ICE, APEE, APECE or in any other science or Technical disciplines (decided by Prog.Director)


B. Requirements For EMBA:

1. Graduation in any dicipline with minimum 2nd Division.
2. At least 3 years working experience with current permanent job (case to case basis) in an office.

C. Requirements For MDS:

  1. Graduation in any  discipline with Minimum CGPA 2.75 or 2nd class is required in Bachelor Degree.

D. Requirements For MPH:

1. Graduation in any discipline of Health Science.
2. Graduation in any discipline with work experience in Health Care Organization.
3. Posses an M.B.B.S., B.D.S., M.D. or a 3-4 years Bachelor degree or any other equivalent degree.
4. No 3rd division (Exception may be made for candidates with substantial amount of experience).

Required Documents for Form Submission:

1. Attested Photocopy of all Board Mark Sheets and Testimonials / Certificates.
2. Graduation’s Transcripts & Provisional Certificate Should Be Officially Issued. Student Copy is not Allowed
3. Three Copies of Recent Colored & Clear Passport Sized Photographs.

5. For Appeared student (Only for National University) attested copy of Appeared Certificate & Previous 3 Years’ Results

Online Admission Form Fill-up

Step 01: Login (create a new applicant or use already created user name)
Step 02: Fill up all required fields with correct data and upload a recent color photograph
Step 03: Take print outs of the data page and reference number page
Step 04: Bring both print outs to the Information/ Admission office
Step 05: Pay the admission form processing fee

AIUB Credit Transfer

The request for transfer of credentials must be filed with the Registrar’s Office through the proper documentation and approval process. Students must secure clearance from the Registrar’s Office, and have the form signed by the respective departments, prior to the issuance of the transfer of credentials. In order to be eligible for a credit transfer/ course waiver, the transferring student must fulfill the following requirements:

1. Minimum CGPA of 3.50 (or equivalent) from a government-recognized university.
2. Complete at least 60% of their program at AIUB (requirement for convocation/ graduation).
3. Credits/ Courses to be waived must be recommended by the concerned Faculty/ Course Equivalency Assessment Committee and approved by the Waiver Committee
